About this Class

Natural Sciences integrated as always: hands on natural sciences. Check out the photos on social media to see many examples and things we've done and subjects we've learned in the past. Also... Thursday will do all the things we do in Rangers 2 but with a different subject New! New subject- Geography,  states studies, with a little history :  integration with Rangers with all the other activities we do to enrich your at home learning & add another subject to our Rangers 2 line-up. Take both days & continue to enhance their knowledge & experiences...and it's so much fun! The subjects chosen in Rangers can add to whatever you already are doing at home, sometimes hard to make interesting and so fun & interesting in a group setting like this.  Thursdays: Combination Rangers 1 & Rangers 2 ages 5-10  Always hands on holistic learning - joyful - fun way to learn that keeps kids engaged, helps them remember with less repetition & foster a love of learning. That's what we do.  THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR THE DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES OF THIS ENTHUSIASTIC AND CAPABLE AGE. WE ENGAGE & LEARN THROUGH MOVEMENT & WHOLISTIC FULL SENSORY LEARNING. RANGERS PROGRAM RUN BY SEMESTER FOR CONTINUITY, ROUTINE & STRONG FRIENDSHIP BUILDING. WE LEARN RHYTHMICALLY WITH THE SEASONS, AND STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT. WE FOUNDATIONALLY LEARN – HOW TO LOVE TO LEARN  IN A COMFORTABLE & ENGAGING ENVIRONMENT. OUR SPACES INCLUDE GARDENS, PLACES TO BUILD FORTS IN OUR LITTLE WOODS & FARMYARD, A SEASONAL STREAM AND POND. WE LEARN ASIDE AT TIMES A LAMB GRAZING, INQUISITIVE MINIATURE GOAT, AND OTHER FARM ANIMALS THAT WE CAN OBSERVE AND PET. ANIMALS BRING A CALM TO MANY CHILDREN & EXPAND THEIR EXPERIENCES AND EXPOSURES. SOMETIMES THEY BECOME THE LESSON. WE LEARN CONCEPTS LIKE ENGINEERING, MATH, TEAMWORK & A SENSE OF SPATIAL AWARENESS WITH FORT BUILDING. WE BALANCE & DEVELOP OUR VESTIBULAR SENSES HELPING CONCENTRATION & LEARNING. WE ALSO LEARN WITH GAMES, MOVEMENT  TO LEARN WITH THE  WHOLE CHILD, WE CHALLENGE OURSELVES & WORK TOGETHER WITH GROUP PROJECTS. OUR PROGRAM INCLUDES UNITS OF NATURAL SCIENCE, LITERATURE, NATURAL JOURNALING, ART, SOME YOGA, & MINDFULNESS, & PE. WE ENJOY SPECIAL DAYS TOO, LIKE BIRTHDAYS & HOLIDAYS TO ADD A SPECIAL & EXCITING ELEMENT FOR DEEPING IMPORTANT EVENTS  & MEMORIES.  RANGERS IS DESIGNED FOR FORWARD LEARNING, CREATING FRIENDSHIPS, FEELING COMFORTABLE IN OUR NATURAL SPACES & WITH THEMSELVES. WE TREAT OTHERS WITH KINDNESS & EMPHASIZE EMPATHY AND UNDERSTANDING ONE ANOTHER. WE WORK TOGETHER WITH POSITIVE CONFLICT RESOLUTION & UNDERSTANDING OURSELVES & OTHERS. YOU MAY CALL US FOREST SCHOOL, NATURE SCHOOL AND EARTHSCHOOLING & WILD-SCHOOLING AND ALL WOULD FIT.  AGES ARE 8-10  THEY MAY TURN 11 YEARS OLD AFTER MARCH 1 OF THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR What to Bring & Be Prepared For Class :  Backpack : a "regular" sized day pack - school back pack. The tot sizes are generally too small & harder for the child to manage. The opening is smaller & it's harder for them to fit items inside.  Lunch in a Container : please send lunch and snacks in a container (not in a bag: bags fly around and hard for us all to manage Morning class bring a lunch and snacks  Afternoon Class: lunch is optional if they ate directly before class. Most kids need to eat again, and  large snacks or lunch is recommended Large Filled Water Bottle : the cute small sizes are too small. It disrupts class to fill up frequently for the class Dressed in Layers : Winter & early spring : Snow Clothes : head to foot. Beanie (don't rely on the hood), layers, snow pants or bibs, jacket, snow shoes Bring a quart size mason jar with lid and a spork or fork & spoon that fit in the jar with the lid closed  with names on each piece
