About this Class

Semester 1 Rhythm We work together with the seasons & weather Pottery & handwork  will be one of our arts in this session! We will choose a pottery project to fire in the fire the ancestral way, the original way. Once we've made a few projects, and have learned to make a pot that can endure firing, we will make a fire, warm the pots, and put them in the fire as our kiln finishing. This will be really neat to see the transformation from the raw clay to fired clay!  Learning in the Garden science in the garden, plant seeds, help things grow, eat from the garden, do art projects from the garden. Our edible schoolyard, is used for many things, beyond "just gardening."  We will work together for a few projects to find geocaches on the property here with the Geocache Class- unplugged using maps, & compass. We will learn about using a compass, directions, maps, and map the school. Then hide, record and find other caches!   Fire Building in the cold months!   Whittling projects.  Earth Science incorporating hands on learning. We learn about plant cycles, trees, dandelions & herbs, flowers & produce, and pollinators up close. We notice the seasons and how it effects the world around us. We watch the variety of animals we have and naturally learn about lambs, miniature donkeys or other farm friends with opportunity to love on them. We learn about the weather, ponds, water cycles, biomes and many other science topics in a hands on, observational and applicable approach. We also do handwork. We've made felted soap, dyed towels and shirts from the plants from the garden, work and learn about wool, willow branch wreaths and crowns, and have many neat projects ahead. Social Studies & Literature with Stories  Fine & Gross Motor Skill Development Activities Social Development   Outdoor Activity & Free Play Special Days Holistic Learning with hands on projects, song, and movement Hands On Holistic Learning  Check out the photos on social media to see many examples things we've done & subjects we've learned about. Fall to Winter is a captivating time to be here on the farm havning an abundance of resources to use and learn with. February into May will bring many seasonal changes and opportunities to feel winter, see the first signs of spring and experience as nature wakes up the trees, garden and pond all around, into summer weather. So many learning adventures, projects, In what looks like winter, life is born on the farm. Watching newborn lambs, goats and other baby things. Experiencing the wonder of life on the farm, the garden and all around. It's magical and we get to be in the middle of it as we learn & enjoy.  THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR THE DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES OF THIS ENTHUSIASTIC AND CAPABLE AGE. WE ENGAGE & LEARN THROUGH MOVEMENT & WHOLISTIC FULL SENSORY LEARNING. RANGERS PROGRAM RUN BY SEMESTER FOR CONTINUITY, ROUTINE & STRONG FRIENDSHIP BUILDING. It disrupts class to fill up frequently for the class Dressed in Layers : Winter & early spring : Snow Clothes : head to foot.
