A nature immersion and explorative class:
We learn through nature immersion & a gently explore and learn. Circle time, pet the sheep & goats -Seasonal crafts & fine motor skill activities - large motor skill activates, practice balance, play games - sing, clap rhythmically, explore and make friends.
Things we enjoy rhythmically and seasonally:
Garden, farm animals, ponds (fenced), woods, play yard, mud kitchen, forts, sand boxes and sensory areas, puppet theater, music table, discovery table...Wear play clothes, and lets go!
I hope you come to join us!
We dress for the weather, and enjoy the world around us. If it is raining enough we will spend some time in the tipi doing our circle and other activities. But we don't want to stay inside! Please dress for the weather (and please remember to dress yourself for the weather so mom/dad can enjoy it too!)
and prepare for the unexpected so we can enjoy time in nature!
Class Information: Where to meet - What to bring - What to expect
Please Read Before The First Day Of Class
We meet in the waiting area by the blue rooster, the Big Foot and the wooden play house in the fenced area. We wait here for the leader Ms Crista. This is where we begin and end.
What to Bring:
Backpack
Filled water bottle
Bring snacks for your child - they are only eaten at designated areas
Pack it in- Pack it out
Take home any food waste and wrappers, diapers etc
Clothing:
Dress in layers as the weather can fluctuate during a class
Kids & adults wear close toed shoes & wear shoes at all times
Dressing warm and dry to enjoy the class, is the best preparation and most helpful. If your child is cold, they will not enjoy it, or won't want to participate. We want to stay outside in some rain and snow. Please dress them, or have clothes to accommodate being outside in the weather. It can be so fun when properly dressed for the weather.
Stay Together and Wander Where The Class Is:
Sometimes it's difficult to remember or prepare for yourself for the weather as we focus on our kids. Please help yourself be warm and comfortable too.
Preparing an outdoor school bag is very helpful to have in the car! If you forget an item, it's raining when not expected or windy and cold when the temperature says it's warmish... you have your backup items in your car for your child, but also for you.
Bringing a bag for dirty clothes and shoes can be very helpful too, before your child gets back into your vehicle.
Class
We stay together in the same area
For example, if we are in the farm area, we are all in the farm area
When we are in the garden, we are all in the garden area...
Found most helpful and easiest for kids to followwhen they are told this on the first day with consistency
Keeping Items in their area:
Please help your child to learn while here, items stay in their area, and help them with this. i.e. musical instruments stay at the music table, puppets stay at the puppet theater, crayons stay at the art table. This helps items not get lost and ruined, and keeps the items to stay in the area for the next child. If they start walking away with it, remind or help them to know where it stays or gets put away. Each parent is to help their child. We can do more in class, as each parent helps their children.
To lessen any disappointment and manage expectations:
Leave feathers, sticks, rocks, pine cones, flowers etc for others to enjoy. Please help your child understand this concept that unless we make a project in class, all "found" or special items here, stay here please.
It works best when you help them know this right away, and if they seem to be getting attached or want to bring it home.
Arriving Late or Not Coming : it's ok!
If you are arriving late a text is very appreciated, and helps me plan activities and know to watch for you
If you are late, it's OK!
